How a Free Driver Download Website Can Put Your Mind at Ease

Putting your mind at ease when it comes to your own computing life is not a term that is easily associated with each other, and this is because of the multitude of problems that you can face when it comes to the computer and many of the problems actually come from the very problem that there might be conflicts or hardware problems that you can never predict, no matter how long you have been using a computer for, and this is the lesson that you really need to know about. I think that one of the most common problems in the world today is the driver problem and for one thing, let us look at what a driver, or a device driver really is in the sense of the computer world.

One of the important things to note is that the problems with the driver are fairly common and fairly easy for you to resolve if you know what you are doing. All in all, the free driver download website is one of the mainstays that you can use to resolve and fix these problems. The good thing about these websites is that it consolidates all the drivers and updates them on a regular basis so that you do not have to, and you have a one stop solution for all your needs. Because in the computing world, and the computer that you have at home, you do not have a single manufacturer at all, and sometimes, these manufacturers have clunky website systems, tech support and even have no presence on the net.

What you need to do instead of hunting down each driver one by one, is to be able to get to website that can do this for you and it can cover most of the major brands in the computing world today and this is really one of the more useful things that you need to be able to have. The good news for you is that there are plenty of these websites in the internet today, and they can range from simple depositories to more value added websites that even have a request system and even have tech support which you would be able to get into once you have a problem.

But of course, one of the things that you need to know is that you cannot simply just download and update the driver as it is, you need to find out if there are any reported tech problems, or conflict issues with the new drivers, and this is really important if you want to keep things running. At the end of the day, the combinations of problems are plenty and of course, while we are letting you know How A Free Driver Download Website Can Put Your Mind At Ease, we are also telling you that problems can be multi dimensional, and because of this, more than one route and solution can be presented to you to actually help you solve the problem and keep things running smoothly.

3 Quick Fix Solutions to Common DVD Driver Issues

The first thing that you might want to do is to relook at the whole installation process, because the majority of the problems when it comes to DVD driver issues is that the initial installation was faulty at first, and what you really need to look at is how you are going to be able to resolve that from there. Because of the fact that the DVD is a simple device to install and most of the time, the drivers are installed quite automatically within the system, problems are quite rare. One of the most common is that there may have been conflicts or data might not have been transferred fully over, and these are just the common things that you need to look at when you are installing the DVD drive for the first time ever. Once you are able to get over these hurdles, then you might have taken one step to installing the DVD drive properly.

Another quick fix solution that you might want to think about is simply replacing the age old drivers that have been sitting in your computer for a while now, and this may be one of the best ways that you can fix the problem. When doing so, what you need to do is to go online and find some drivers for yourself, and check with the manufacturer of the DVD driver and from there, you would be able to find their website, contact their tech support and get the latest version of their drivers, and this is really what you need to be able to do. In fact, this can be an easy step to take because of the self installer function of these drivers, and that most of the time, bespoke from the fact that the DVD might have special functions, all you need is the updated Windows drivers as well (depending on the operating system that you are using.)

Last but not least, if these are not the problems that you are facing, then it could be that there is a driver conflict that is on your system and to fix this problem, it can be quite a tough nut to crack. What you can do is to actually go online and from there, you can then copy and paste over the problem that you have and the specs of your system onto many of the tech forums and collectives online. More than likely someone else has had the same problem, or the problem was discovered earlier and all you need to do really is to follow the instructions on what to do and it can involve something as easy as just replacing one driver for another and just changing some config settings.

These are the problems that you might be facing and these are some of the 3 Quick Fix Solutions to Common DVD Driver Issues that you can use to fix them. At the end of the day, as you can see, there is no need for any complicated fix it sessions.

Best Spyware Software - Why Selecting The Best Spyware Software Can Be Difficult

Looking for the best spyware software? Well, let me tell you it's not easy choosing when there are so many out there! Trust me, you can go through a couple before you find one that suits your needs. My needs when I wanted a spyware software was simple.

Give me something that is cheap, works on multiple computers, eliminates spyware I have right now and protects me from future spyware infections if I were to install something that was infected with it. Unfortuntaly it has become harder to find a legitimate spyware software.

Reason being it's been very easy to create FAKE spyware removers and put different names on them, selling them as something unique. Russian hackers and greedy marketers have been feeding on the general public for far too long, saying their version is the best spyware program
when it is nothing but a shell.

Most of these fake spyware remover software will not even eliminate threats, and often time "make up threats" so that you will buy their program. It's a sneaky and sometimes illegal practice which you want to stay away from at all costs.

They will say they are "voted top software" etc, while they have no credentials at all... Other famous software however have TONS of proof and usually appear in popular magazines etc.

The spyware software that is worth looking at will have a simple, but functional interface with a few simple buttons and features. Removing spyware is nothing more than "identifying them" and using more powerful code to remove it, and when you install spyware programs they will remove these using it's pre-coded methods and brute force deleting systems.

A spyware program will help you protect you from new infections that you can potentially get from being on torrent sites, adult sites, gambling sites, warez sites and many other "illegal-content" related websites.

You rarely even know you get infected with spyware because the people who place it on your PC are great at hiding their software within other software, freeware and shareware.

The best idea is to simply order a proven spyware program that has a good name and has been around for a while. There are quite a few different spyware software to choose from. Some are Norton, McAfee, PC Tools and many more.

While the most expensive seem like an intelligent choice, it's not always the best choice, because many of them install a lot of "extra un-needed" tools that slow down your computer, even if it's "safe".

Computerizing the Driving Experience

The cars of today are a far cry for what they used to be in the last half of the preceding century. It used to be luxury owning one. For some brands, it still is. But for the majority of cars on the road, the impetus for marketing one has grown beyond mere stylish sybaritic comforts to get you from one place to another. Sure, they all do in varying degrees. But even luxury cars have to bow to the manufacturing demands resulting from both political and earthly exigencies of the times requiring car making strategies that address two major areas. These are Environment Friendliness and Fuel Efficiency.

Hybrids Emerging

Used to be the subject of science fiction, electric cars are now a reality. But their practical usefulness is often impaired by limited mileage that behooved automakers to continue with the combustion engine that still require fossil fuels to run in various mix with other high octane substances like ethanol and diesel products. So what you have is called a hybrid – a mix of electrically driven and engine-driven cars that are computer controlled to give the right mix in either parallel or series configuration that can efficiently propel the automobile.

All the new cars are hybrids in either parallel or series configuration or both. The sub compact Hondas and Toyotas lead the market for cars that has proven to be practical for city driving and still provide value in terms of fuel efficiency and meeting strict emissions for an environmentally acceptable car.

Computers Everywhere

Every year new automobile models come out that seem to increase in complexity. Cars on the road are running computers as they often use dozens of microprocessors to control just about every electro-mechanical functions. The main components are sensors that feed data to on board computers that have made driving a breeze. From cabin control, cruise control, engine diagnostics and control, to braking and tire conditions, sensors are just about everywhere on even an economy subcompact car.

A modern ECU or engine control unit is a computer in itself, using 32-bit microprocessors that control the gathering of engine data from dozens of disparate sensors monitoring all aspects of engine performance. From sensing coolant temperatures to the amount of carbon monoxides in the exhaust, the ECY performs the calculations to determine the best spark timing, fuel mixes and how long the fuel injector remains open. Not only does the ECY do this to optimize engine performance, it does to ensure the highest mileage and the least emissions.

The cabin of SUVs and cars are no less complex. You have a dashboard that’s essentially a computer display panel with many models using LCD mounted displays instead of the usual mechanical gauges. Sensors are just as numerous, telling the driver which door remains open, seatbelts not locked, as well as monitoring creature comforts like entertainment systems, air conditioning and heating systems. Driving itself is mostly controlled by computers to assist the driver in cruise controls, ride stiffness or softness and gear shifts.

What’s Next?

The next step is almost a natural – the intelligent car. There are already high end cars from noted luxury brands with smart security systems for driver recognition, keyless access and ignition as well as utilizing GPS navigation and total shut down in the event it gets stolen. A smart car for a smart home? Why not? GP

Need Computer Repair Services? A Short Guide on How Much to Pay

It's a dreaded event for many computer owners – the day their computer conks out, refuses to work normally or simply resigns. Not only is this a huge inconvenience and a cause for concern due to the potential loss of data (imagine all that hard work gone in an instant), having a computer fixed can cost money. If you're worried about how much you'll pay in case you need computer repair services, here is a short guide to help give you an idea about the kind of cost you can expect:

In most cases, expect to be charged hourly rates.
Some computer repair services charge a fee based on the type of work done. In general, though, you will probably be charged by the hour. It will also be the technician who will determine the number of hours it will take to fix your computer.

So if he charges $30 an hour for a 2-hour repair, you'll have to shell out $60 – that is, as long as the job gets done in 2 hours. Just in case it takes him far longer than that, you'll have no choice but to pay more. If there are software or hardware
to be installed, you might also have to pay additional charges for these.

To avoid getting overcharged by a slow-moving technician, always ask if what they're charging is the full cost for your computer's repair. It's also wise to ask for guarantees. This will provide you a measure of protection after the repair has been completed. It will also help if the computer repair service offers a no-fix-no-fee guarantee. That way, if they fail at fixing your computer's problem, you don't have to pay for anything.

Consider computer repair services by remote.
There are companies that can fix your computer by hooking up to it online. They can fix your problems by remote and you can even monitor the progress in real time. These services can be very helpful only if your computer problems are software-related. They're also quite affordable, charging fees that start from around $39.

Some repairs are costlier than others.
When it comes to computer repairs, the cost can be relative. It will depend on the extent of the repair required for the job, how many hours it would take to complete it, what types of hardware or software will be needed and to some extent, who does the fixing.

Simple checkups, diagnostics, installation and/or reinstallation, for example, can cost from a measly $25 to about $150 per hour. The low-end figure is usually for the most basic work done while higher figures are for more extensive repairs.

A caveat: there is a saying that holds true in computer repair services – at least, most of the time: 'You get what you pay for'. Computer repair technicians are well-trained individuals. Not only that, they also run a business and that business often requires that they buy insurance, not just as a protection for themselves but also for their clients.

This is why you get computer repair services that don't charge much and computer repair services that charge quite a bit. Frequently, the higher-end service is the one that is insured and offers an accompanying guarantee. Check the cheaper repair services and you'll find that they offer neither insurance nor guarantee.

If you're worried about how much to pay when looking for computer repair services, take these things into consideration. That way, you'll be better able to make the right decision.

Laptop Computers - Upgrade Or Replace?

Laptop computers are great. They offer convenience and flexibility to anyone who depends on a computer for their livelihood. They are also prone to annoying problems like the ones I've experienced lately. Here are just a few examples from the ongoing saga of my laptop:

• I had two instances of my Web browser open, along with a couple of other applications. As I ALT-Tabbed between apps, the ALT-Tab window - the one that displays all the open applications for you to move to - froze, front and center, on my screen. As I tried valiantly to work, the little window obstructed my view. When I happened to shut down one instance of my browser, the thing went away.

• I had one thin line on my monitor. It's like some pixels went missing or something. A few weeks later, another line appeared. If this keeps going, I imagine I'll lose a good portion of my screen by the end of the year.

• The battery conks out after less than 2 hours.

So, the question I'm left with is: should I upgrade my laptop or replace it?

Upgrading Laptop Computers - Pros and Potential Cons

The main benefit of upgrading is cost. Instead of paying for a brand new machine, I could just by a memory stick for a fraction of the price and hope that solves my problem. Memory is cheap. Refurbished memory is even cheaper. I know because my machine is ancient and, needing to look around for the right kind of memory, I checked a reseller.

For most people, memory upgrades are enough to boost performance, if performance is the real issue.

The potential con of an upgrade is that it may not fix the problem. So I could end up spending money on memory and lots of time trying to figure out how to install it, only to discover that my problem isn't fixed.

Buying a New Laptop - Pros and Potential Cons

Money is also the main concern with buying a new laptop, but in this case, money is a "con", not a "pro". The costs of replacing technology can be significant for any business, big or small. Yes, it would be nice to have a new computer, and one that could actually handle running more than one application at a time, but is it better to take my chances on a memory upgrade? Is a new laptop affordable?

If you are in a similar situation to mine and you want an answer to that last question, here's some advice. Look closely at your current and future needs. Make sure you consider a laptop that has room for expansion, in case you find yourself in this same situation a few years from now.

Laptop computers come in a wide range of sizes, from tiny netbooks to huge desktop replacements. Take a look at the price ranges for the specs you need. It can't hurt to take a peek at the secondary market too. Used and refurbished laptop computers work as well as new ones - albeit with fewer bells and whistles due to their age.

Like all technology, laptop computers are a blessing and a curse. They make life easier, but they also make it a lot more expensive. Before you jump into a new purchase for your old laptop, be sure to research the possibility of upgrading. If you decide to buy, do your homework. Study the laptop computers on offer and choose the one that suits your work style and your budget.

The Dark Side of Budget Web Hosting

As in this world nothing is for free; same is with free web hosting. In case of free web hosting there is another dark side undisclosed which hampers one’s chances of becoming successful. However, if one knows about these dirty secrets, he/she will be prepared and better able to handle any possible problems before they would actually arise.

The following are some of the secrets which one should know before selecting a web host:-

1. Absence of Experience

There are several budget web hosts on the web that have not been around for very long and have little or even no experience at all. The final thing which the user is supposed to do is to sign up with a company that is brand new and inexperienced and be component of their learning curve. Instead, one should find a web host
that possess experience of several years and is happy to outline the year they started, their expansion, and entire experience level.

2. 24/7 Support

In case a company is searching for a budget web host and is willing to save much costs. It is for sure that the cost which the company is trying to save will be less in comparison to the loss which it has to suffer due to poor support afterwards. Thus it is quite common that some budget web hosts do not offer any sort of information about their level of support, but some argue to offer 24/7 support but in real sense don’t. Prior to signing any agreement, with a budget web host, he/she should make sure that whether the host response the call at 3 a.m. on weekdays or anytime on weekends or not. Through the conclusion whether the phone is answered or not will be a very good sign as to whether one should sign up with them or keep finding.

3. Service Level Agreement

One should study the service level agreement that is provided by the budget web host. If the budget web host do not have, one then definitely move on, and if it is not a sturdy agreement that outlines precisely what will happen and the class of service the user will get in the event of a problem. The actual cause for this is because all web hosts will run into a problem at several places and one needs to know how that will be handled and how it will affect him/her before inflowing into the agreement.

4. No sole hosts

A further dirty little secret is many budget web hosts companies are not exclusively web host companies but they do offer range of other businesses or products as well. One definitely would not like to be in a situation to work with anyone who is in reality not a real web host rather one wishes a web host that only concentrate on web hosting nothing else. One should ask without hesitation before signing up any agreements or giving credit card numbers, what kind of business they are involved in and from which area their revenue comes from. This will help one to come to a conclusion about whether or not this is the web host meant for him/her or not.

This is not the end of dirty secrets; rather there are several others which are swept under the carpet in regards to the budget web hosting business. The best things one can do is to simply ask lot of questions, do a little investigation, and use the answers which one finds to help in making his/her own decision.

The Top 10 Mistakes Technology Companies Make

In working closely with technology providers over the years, I regularly discover that these companies are making common mistakes that devalue the company, leave revenue on the table, or jeopardize their long-term health. So this special article identifies the top 10 of these mistakes to help you avoid making them.

10. Failure to register a federal copyright for company-developed software

Your company has spent months, and maybe years developing the next-big-thing. You're out there licensing it to customers, fighting off competitors, and trying to maximize your revenues. What would you do if a customer was misusing your software? What if a competitor was copying parts of it to use in its product? There are various ways to respond to these problems, but one of the easiest to way to strengthen your claims is to register a copyright for the software with the United States Copyright Office. Registration provides you with an enhanced ability to have a court prevent infringing use of your software, and a greater amount of damages that are recoverable. The best part is that registration is relatively easy and inexpensive.

9. Licensing technology too broadly

So you've landed that big deal with that big customer. You've carefully priced the deal based upon your expectations of how the customer is going to use your technology - by a specific group within the customer's large organization. You're hoping that the success of this deal will lead to a greater adoption of your technology within the rest of the company, and ultimately more revenue for you. Unfortunately, you later learn that this one group is sharing your technology throughout the rest of the company, with no additional license fees to you, and there's nothing you can do about it. Why? By failing to carefully and narrowly draw up the license grant in your agreement, you've unwittingly granted the entire company the rights to use your technology, and you've left a pile of cash on the table.

8. Failure to provide detailed support and maintenance policies

Too often, once a company's technology is ready to be licensed, determining how to support the technology becomes an afterthought. General and non-descriptive obligations like "providing telephone and email support" and "providing updates" are invitations for disagreements and missed expectations. When is phone support being offered? How quickly will you respond to problems? What is considered and update and what is a new product for which you would charge the customer separately? Many times, you need your customer to provide you with certain information about the problem before you can diagnose and fix it. Set the appropriate expectations in your support and maintenance policies and avoid these issues in the future.

7. Not contracting customers to recurring support fees

Customers want and expect that you will be there to support your product, assist with problems, and provide them updates when you add features or fix bugs. Customers also expect that you will regularly charge them for these services, so why do so many technology vendors sell a product to a customer and fail to structure regular and recurring support fees? In general, a technology vendor's highest profit margins are realized through a support fee stream, and not in the upfront license charge.

6. Inadequate non-disclosure and non-compete agreements with employees and contractors

The technology business is one of the most competitive industries in the market. Why take a chance losing your competitive advantage by not ensuring that your intellectual property, customer lists, trade secrets, and other sensitive information are properly protected through appropriate agreements with your employees, contractors, and vendors? Finding and using some form agreement that you saw floating around on the Internet somewhere may actually make matters worse if you don't fully understand the terms. Moreover, simple steps can be taken to ensure that anything developed by your employees is, and remains, your company's property.

5. Giving away intellectual property ownership too liberally

Many technology companies develop customized technology for their customers, or make customized modifications to their existing technology on behalf of a particular customer. And most customers argue that if they're paying for it, they want to own it. But giving away your company's intellectual property in these instances can prevent you from reusing it for other customers - effectively shutting down a potential source of revenue in the future. And many times, your customers may not need to actually "own" the developments - a license right can often do the trick.

4. Using overly broad or subjective acceptance testing

It is not uncommon or unreasonable for customers to want to "kick the tires" of your technology before they pay for it. Problems arise when the customer has an unreasonable expectation of what the technology is supposed to achieve, and either want to withhold payment, or force you to provide extra services to meet that unreasonable expectation. This especially manifests itself when a customer includes acceptance testing language in a contract which is not tied to objective and realistic standards. Although it can be a laborious effort, taking the time to objectify these standards with the customer in the contract can save you significant time down the road, and get you paid faster.

3. Offering liberal source code escrow release conditions

For software developers, you know that your source code is the "crown jewels" of your business. It is the core of your technology, representing months or years of your blood, sweat, and tears. Yet many software companies are willing to give it away, for free, to their customers. How? By entering into a source code escrow agreement with a customer and allowing it to be released to them in situations where the code still holds value for you. Many customers will demand the source code be released to them if you stop supporting the software, but the intellectual property in the code may still be used in your other products or technology, effectively giving your customer the tools it needs to duplicate your technology. Creating very narrow and specific source code release conditions can minimize this impact.

2. Undervaluing technology

What is your technology worth? It's a difficult question, and value can be measured and determined in many ways. Many new technology companies feel compelled to undercharge for their technology in an effort to break into the market. Although there is certainly some merit in that, I see vendors consistently undervaluing what their technology is worth, leaving significant revenue on the table. Understanding the impact and loss to the customer if they DON'T license your technology is the first key to pricing your product. Plus, under-pricing your product can create an impression that the technology is "cheap" - not a label that will build a positive reputation of your company in the long run.

1. Using a form license and/or services agreement that doesn't fit your business model

Capturing exactly how you want to provide your product or services to your customer, allocating the risks, and creating each party's obligations and rights, is not a simple or quick process. Replicating some other company's form agreement not only exposes you to risks that you may not be aware of, but potentially violates the other company's copyright in their agreement, and raises the risks outlined in the other points of this list. Having a customized agreement created for you that aligns with your business processes, mitigates your risks, and addresses the laws that apply in your jurisdiction for your industry is a key component in running a successful technology business.

How to Can I Speed Up my Computer, Now?

Everybody always asks, "How can I speed up my Computer?" at some point. The fact of the matter is that, your PC or laptop will eventually slow down over time due to registry errors. I done a registry Clean on my computer 1 short year after purchase and I got over a 1251 PC errors! The difference that made was amazing!

When the question, “How can I speed up my computer?” came to my head first, I quickly discovered that these errors happen because of an unhealthy PC registry. The cause of this was mainly used process files that were left behind after I either Installed or uninstalled a program. Needless to say the degradation in performance was Dire.

As luck would have it, I also got a string of viruses at the time. But with some good anti-virus software, they got swiftly deleted. However, the damaged caused by the virus still remained. In the form of invalid registry entries. The only way you can answer the "How can I speed up my Computer?" question successfully is by buying a good registry cleaner.

This will clean up old, invalid process files and generally heal any damage that viruses and other malicious programs may have done. It will also point process files in the right direction when they have been knocked out of place by spyware or by a program that you or someone else may have moved to a different directory.

While Registry cleaners do eliminate a lot of errors from your slow running computer, more still needs to be done with windows to tweak if effectively for optimal performance. This is why I choose a complete PC optimization software, it gets all of your tweaks and errors fixed in one program, and they are about the same price as a standard registry cleaner.

Common knowledge of computers is also required even if the software does all the hard work. I have provided this knowledge for free, for your benefit. To finally help you answer that question “How can I speed up my computer?”

Computer Technology Based on Molecular Biology

In about ten years, computer technology as we know it will stop advancing. Computer chips will not be able to get any smaller or any faster. That is when computer technology based on molecules will take over. From what I have seen in the last ten years, computers in 100 years will be whatever our imaginations can come up with. That could be good, but that could also be very bad. Given the capacity of the imagination, I am very concerned about what will happen because of technology.

The egotistic condition of being human is something that needs to be taken into account when debating for or against the advancement of technology. One trait people have that helps them survive is their self-centered outlook which extends to the outer limits of the universe. With the birth of Homo sapiens came intelligence and egotism great enough to threaten the equilibrium of the planet. People like to form nature around their lives, not the other way around. The human race is literally in a fight with nature.

One very strong instinct people have is to not die. In 100 years people will be having a debate on whether or not it is ethical to digitize our minds in order to live forever. I hope I am wrong, but I believe that if given enough time, we will be able to create some sort of an eternity. As we become more like computers and computers become more like us there will be a new species of life. We will have created life—computers with feelings and thoughts. In the future it will be easy to forget the implications of the advancements of technology because information will be more desirable than knowledge.

People will be able to have digital children that will never be in physical form and will never wear out or die. The children of the future will have “gods” for parents. The kids’ eternal life will depend on whether or not the parents grant it. This new world (or worlds) will inhabit people that are not conditioned by earth’s way of evolution where parents care for their kids because of a specie’s need to procreate in order to survive. The evolution of computers (or the people inside of them) will be shaped only by gaining comprehension of ways to “delete” others in order to survive forever.

Some serious contemplating needs to be done on this issue. One human flaw that may kill us in the end is the fact that we are too smart for our own good and yet too dumb to realize it. But, if we believe that our only flaw is in not advancing, then denial will be what ultimately kills us. If we are to survive we will need to understand that we do not understand and accept some things as they are.

IE Can Not Connect To The Internet ? - Repair it in Seconds !

Perhaps the most frustrating thing that can happen when browsing on the internet is unexpectedly having an IE can not connect to the Internet problem; not only that you can't work properly, you probably don't know what to do to take care of the problem. If you are hoping to learn an easy and powerful way for you to take care of these troubles, continue to browse the information that follows.

The web-browser you use for the internet is among the busiest of all your programs; you use various sites for business and pleasure, activate various online applications, and download various applications and information to your computer. Thus, as you can tell, there is a continual back-and-forth activity between your browser and your operating system - the part of your windows that enables this communication is referred to as the windows registry.

When there is a rupture in this registry part of windows, this is where you start having to deal with nuisances like an IE can not connect to the Internet problem, lock ups, error messages, and other similar hassles. The registry has the job of managing activity on your pc, including installations and removals; thus, if a software installation is faulty in some way, it may generate a 'broken' registry, among other problems. Then comes the challenge of trying to figure out what the problem is and being able to find that corrupted part and fix it. So what are our alternatives when this happens to us? There are two ways to go: repair it on our own or take the expensive route and call for help.

If you're frustrated by an IE can not connect to the Internet problem and think you have to look for a repair service - stop! You don't need to take that step - put that money back in your repair fund - you can take care of this without outside help, even if you've always looked for outside help in the past. Many websites out there offer downloads of registry cleaning tools that are created to scan your system, tracking down and correcting any irregularities with a simple click of your mouse. Nowadays, it's common for these tools to allow free scans and even free fixes (although it is limited). It's a good idea to load one of these utilities onto your pc; these annoying troubles can be stopped with just a few minutes of your time.

Creating a Backup Strategy to Avoid Disaster

Organize your data so it is easy to back up.

You want all your data files (e.g. Word documents, Excel documents, email, etc.) to be in folders that are all inside a single folder on your hard disk. Windows provides you with a folder named "My Documents" designed for this purpose. In Windows 95/98/ME there is a single My Documents folder shared by all users while Windows NT/2000/XP creates a separate My Documents folder for each login account. Backing up the "WinNTProfiles" folder in NT 4.0 or the "Documents and Settings" folder in Windows 2000/XP will back up the My Documents folders for all users if you are logged in as an administrator.

Many programs default to saving files in the My Documents folder and programs that can’t can usually be set to do so. You will probably want to create new folders under the My Documents folder to keep data from different applications or projects separate. You may need to read the documentation to learn how, but you should set each program to open documents from and save documents to the appropriate folders you have created under the My Documents folder. If you do this consistently you will know where all your data is on your hard disk and won't accidentally miss backing up important data.

Choose what device you will use to back up your data.

The most common devices to back up data have been tape drives, zip drives and flash drives. More recently, CDRW drives (CD read/write drives) are being used for backups. Your decision will be based on how much data you need to back up, what devices you already have that could be used for backups, and whether or not you can purchase a new backup device.

The least expensive devices are Iomega zip drives and disks. Zip disks come in 250MB and 100MB sizes. You must buy a zip drive designed for 250MB disks to use 250MB disks. All zip drives can work with 100MB zip disks. Zip drives come with software for backing up data to zip disks or you can copy the folder that all your data is under ("My Documents" or "Documents and Settings" to a zip disk if it will all fit.

Jaz drives come in 1GB and 2GB sizes and are similar to zip drives but are bigger and cost more. They use the same Iomega backup software as zip drives. You can also use DVD disks which are 4.7gig in size.

CDRW drives can be used like a 650MB floppy disk when using CDRW disks and packet writing software that comes with the drive. The disks you create will be readable only on other CDRW drives or CDR/DVD drives that support the multi-thread standard. All drives capable of reading CDRW disks require software to be installed that supports reading CDRW disks. You should use software that supports the UDF standard (most current CDRW packet writing software does) when writing files on your CDRW drive and install UDF reader software on computers with multithread CD or DVD drives that you want to read CDRW disks. Drives with early implementations of multithread may not be able to read CDRW disks even with UDF reader software installed. Free UDF readers are available from Ahead Software and Roxio. CDRW drives may come with backup or disaster recovery software but you should look carefully at the software bundled with a CDRW drive before purchasing it.

Unlike the previous devices, tape drives are designed specifically for backing up data. They hold more data, 4GB to more than 40GB, and require running a backup program both to backup or restore files. A tape drive cannot be used like a large floppy disk. Windows 95/98/ME does not come with backup software so you must use the software, if any, that comes with the tape drive, or purchase backup software. Windows NT has a backup program that works with most SCSI tape drives. Windows 2000/XP has a backup program that works with any removable media that can be written to from within Windows (e.g. zip, jaz, CDRW) and most tape drives. Tape is the least expensive media for very large amounts of data.

Develop a backup strategy.

You can just copy the files you need backed up onto removable media. This cannot be done with tape, but works with zip, jaz, and CDWR disks. It only works well if all your data fits on a single disk. Using a backup program allows using tape and can span more than one disk or tape if necessary. Backup programs also allow special backup series starting with a complete backup followed by backing up only files that have changed. Initially, assume doing complete backups. Ideally, you should back up your data on a daily basis. This guarantees that you won't lose more than one day's work if your hard disk crashes. In the strategies below, it also means you aren't completely dependent on any one disk or tape for your backups. Removable disks and tapes also go bad.

Strategy One: Gives you one work week of daily backups.

Label five media (disks or tapes) Monday, Tuesday, ..., Friday.
On a Monday, put Monday's media into its drive then copy/backup your "My Documents" folder or "Documents and Settings" folder to the media. Remove the media when all the files have been saved to it.
Repeat step 2 daily using the appropriately labelled media for each day. Erase the data on the backup media from the previous week either manually or through the backup program you are using before performing a new backup to it.
Strategy Two: This is an extension of Strategy One. It gives you one work week of daily backups plus one month of weekly backups.

Label four media Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Label five media 1st Monday, 2nd Monday, ..., 5th Monday.
On the first Monday of the month, delete any data already on your 1st Monday media then backup your data to it.
Backups on Tuesday through Friday will be the same as in Strategy One.
On the second, third, fourth, and fifth (if there is one) Monday of the month you would delete previous data then perform a current back up to the media labelled for that Monday.
Strategy Three: This is an extension of Strategy Two. It adds a year of monthly backups.

Replace the 1st Monday media in Strategy Two with 12 media labelled January, February, ..., December. On the first Monday of each month use the media labelled for that month erasing the data from the previous backup to that media. All other days of the month are as in Strategy Two.
Strategy Four: This is the minimalist backup strategy and is a cut down version of Strategy One. Use two media rather than five and label them A and B. Back up your data files daily alternating between the two media. This protects you against hard disk failure but not against viruses. Destructive viruses often go undetected for relatively long periods of time and you may need a backup that goes back days or weeks to recover data damaged by a virus. You should never use only one disk or tape for backups. All media can fail so you should have at least two backups in addition to working copies of your data.

Strategy Five: This is the easiest strategy if it's available to you. If you are faculty or staff at a university and your computer is on a LAN (local area network), you may be able to keep your files on a LAN file server where files are backed up to tape every night. Check with your local computer support group to see if this is the case and what restrictions or costs might be in place.

Which strategy to use depends on how far back in time you want to be able to restore data from and how much effort you are willing to devote to backups. Strategy Three is no more work than Strategy One, but requires more media and slightly more organization. If you use backup software you may be able to use partial backups that are called incremental and differential backups. Both start by doing a full backup followed by:

Incremental backups: They copy only files that have changed since the last backup into a new backup set. This is the most space efficient backup type but is the most difficult to do restores from. You might be able to do a full backup plus four incremental backups on a single media. If so, you would only need one disk or tape per week but might need to look in five different backup sets to find the right one to restore a file from. A complete restore requires restoring all five backup sets. Using incremental backups this way would lose a week's worth of backups if the media goes bad.

Differential backups: They copy all files that have changed since the last full backup into a new backup set. This means you only need to look in the full backup set and the most recent differential backup set to find the most recent version of a file. You only need to restore the full backup set and the most recent differential backup set to know you have the most recent version of all your data. Like the incremental backups, you might be able to put a full week of backups onto a single disk or tape and risk losing a full week of backup files if the media goes bad.

Complete backups on a daily basis are easiest to restore from. You use your most recent backup to recover the most recent version of a data file or go back to the previous backup that is appropriate if you want an earlier version of the file.

Online Computer Support

Online computer support’ can be defined as a kind of services that is provided by the companies in order to help the customer over different computer issues. computer support may be provided to the various companies or simple home users. It seems that every organization have a large number of computer whether it is working in technical fields or non-technical because it is a demand of the new generation who wants everything fast. Even a student always looks to computer for the entertainment, study and etc. So, it is very important to provide the efficient computer support over the different computer issues.

Major companies have own team of technicians for computer technical support or outsource the computer support to the other companies. Computer technical support can be divided into following different categories:

1. Online Computer Support: -- This category provides the computer support over the Internet.

1. Remote Computer Support: -- This category provides the computer support over the remote session. Many organizations are providing the remote support that is done by software which helps in taking the remote control of the user computer.

1. Telephonic Computer Support: -- This category provides the computer support over the telephone. Any customer can call the computer support center. Many companies are providing the toll-free numbers for their customers.
2. Door to door Computer Support: -- In this category, a technician provides the computer support at the user home. A user can call for this service at specific time duration.

We will discuss all the services that come under the online technical support, Online computer support mainly responsible for the computer optimization and repair but all list are the following:--

Computer Security

What is Computer Security?

Computer Security is a branch of technology known as information security as applied to computers. Information security means protecting information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. The objective of computer security varies and can include protection of information from theft or corruption, or the preservation of availability, as defined in the security policy.

Technological and managerial procedures applied to computer systems to ensure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of information managed by the computer system

Computer security imposes requirements on computers that are different from most system requirements because they often take the form of constraints on what computers are not supposed to do.

Typical approaches to improving computer security can include the following:

* Physically limit access to computers to only those who will not compromise security.

* Hardware mechanisms that impose rules on computer programs, thus avoiding depending on computer programs for computer security.

* Operating system mechanisms that impose rules on programs to avoid trusting computer programs.

* Programming strategies to make computer programs dependable and resist subversion.

Computer Security has three Layers:

o Hacking

o Cracking

o Phreaking

Hacking:

Unauthorized use or attempts to circumvent or bypass the security mechanisms of an information system or network.

Computer hacking always involves some degree of infringement on the privacy of others or damage to computer-based property such as files, web pages or software. The impact of computer hacking varies from simply being simply invasive and annoying to illegal.

Cracking:

The act of breaking into a computer system.

Software Cracking is the modification of software to remove protection methods: copy prevention, trial/demo version, serial number, hardware key, CD check or software annoyances like nag screens and adware.

The most common software crack is the modification of an application's binary to cause or prevent a specific key branch in the program's execution.

Phreaking:

The art and science of cracking the phone network.

Security by design:

The technologies of computer security are based on logic. There is no universal standard notion of what secure behavior is. "Security" is a concept that is unique to each situation. Security is extraneous to the function of a computer application, rather than ancillary to it, thus security necessarily imposes restrictions on the application's behavior.

There are several approaches to security in computing; sometimes a combination of approaches is valid:

1. Trust all the software to abide by a security policy but the software is not trustworthy (this is computer insecurity).

2. Trust all the software to abide by a security policy and the software is validated as trustworthy (by tedious branch and path analysis for example).

3. Trust no software but enforce a security policy with mechanisms that are not trustworthy (again this is computer insecurity).

4. Trust no software but enforce a security policy with trustworthy mechanisms.

12 tips for computer security:

1. Update / patch ALL your software every now and then!

2. Check / adjust ALL your settings so they are safe, since they ARENT by default!

3. Use firewall, like ZoneAlarm to control what goes in and out from your computer!

4. Use good passwords: at least 13marks long, containing both letters and numbers. Remember to change your password every few months atleast and dont ever use the same password in two places!

5. Get a good antivirus program: NOD32, F-Secure or Norton Antivirus and keep it updated!

6. Don’t open or execute files that you are not 100% sure are absolutely safe nomatter where or how you get them.

7. Wipe your historyfiles (like cookies, internet history and temporary files, etc.), logs and personal files, with specific wiping program (like Eraser) instead of just deleting them.

8. Use encryption to enhance your privacy! Use encrypted email (like Hushmail or Ziplip), www-surfing and encrypt sensitive files on your computer (PGP).

9. When you are finished using some internet-based service like email, sign out of it rather than just closing your browser! Also, when you leave your computer, make sure that none of such programs or connections are left open that someone could abuse. In WindowsNT/2k/XP, press Windowskey+L to lock the workstation.

10. Don’t use public computers for anything you need to type in your logins, they usually have Trojan horses that capture your passwords.

11. Make backups and store them in safe place! Easiest way to do a total-backup is to make an "Image" of your harddrive or partition and store it on safe location, but floppies will usually be just fine for storing documents, etc.

12. Install and Use a Hardware Firewall

Concept of Shared Web Hosting

After designing of website next important thing is to get it hosted on the internet. The task is not at easy as there are so many companies offering various types of web hosting packages like shared web hosting, dedicated web hosting, managed web hosting etc. Now the problem is which one to use?

In general it is considered a good idea to go for shared web hosting if the user is in a small business and wants to save cost. However before finalizing the deal it is good to know what is shared web hosting service and what are the merits and demerits of shared web hosting.

Defining shared hosting:

If extremely high performance and high bandwidth are not the points in question, then shared web hosting service can be a most convenient and economic way of hosting web sites.. As name implies, in case of shared web hosting service, the web server that hosts the web pages is shared by several other websites. Talking about number of websites on a shared hosting server, they can be in thousands. Now due to the fact that just one server is fulfilling the requirements of many other websites, the plus point is they can offer cheap prices for their server.

As there are so many websites hosted on a single web server, still there is no pint of worry for the user as the web hosting providers will not compromise on any kind of security and performance issues in case of shared hosting servers. Not only that, shared hosting web servers are operated, monitored and look after around the clock by IT professionals, so as to minimize server downtimes.

Shared hosting servers run on UNIX or other multi-user operating system and each website hosted on the web server is provided a separate account in the operating system. These websites hosted on shared servers are provided unique shared IP addresses and are provided with a fix amount of web resources.

The following are some of the merits and demerits of shared web hosting:

Merits:

1. Cost effective: Due to the fact that many websites are hosted on a single web server, web hosting providers provide economic shared web hosting services. Generally, the cost is as low as $5-10 per month for shared web hosting services. Now-a-days due to cut throat competition in web hosting industry, one can find several web hosting companies offering huge web space and bandwidth with as high as 1000 MB disk space and 40 GB bandwidth.

2. Feasible: Due to the fact that shared hosting web servers are operated, monitored and look after around the clock by IT professionals, who are experts in their respective field, one can concentrate more effectively on his/her web business and the problem of downtime and maintenance will not bother him/her any more.

3. Utility options: In case of shared web hosting, though web resources are shared, utility options are provided by the hosting company so that user can manage his/her website using control panel or similar tools. User is having an option to upload files, modify /remove web pages, add database, check web statistic etc. Not only that, user is also provided facility to create domain name specific e-mails accounts.

4. Efficient: Now-a-days shared web hosting service usually comes with web space and bandwidth that are more than sufficient for small business websites. Efficiency lies in the fact, that in addition to above, one can add more resources and can even overrun the web space or bandwidth usage.

Demerits:

1. Problem with response time: As the web server is shared, websites in the shared web hosting have to face problem of slower server response time as compared to dedicate server hosting.

2. Problem of Reliability: In case of shared web hosting, problem of reliability remains as usually web hosting providers may take care of the security and performance of the shared server but it is also possible that some of websites hosted on the shared server run a nasty program or script or over-utilize the resources, resulting in bringing down the web server. Thus due to fault of one all websites have to suffer downtimes and inaccessibility in case of shared web hosting.

3. Problems related to sharing: As discussed above also, due to fault of one all users have to face the problem for example if there is any one "bad" website in shared web server, due to it all websites on the server can be banned altogether by ISP or search engine due to shared IP address. However it is worth to note that one can always pay extra to get a dedicated IP address to avoid the above problem.

4. Problems related to Security: As many websites shared one server, problem of security always remains in case of shared web hosting as it is quite easy to hack one’s sensitive datas by another on the same server.

Thus in conclusion it can be said that before deciding to deal with shared web hosting, one should consider all the merits and demerits of shared web hosting as highlighted above. One should not forget the success of his/her business depends upon his/her website which in turn depends upon good host provider.

They are important and they must be found so here are a few free shortcuts and features that you might be interested to have but only in terms of importance.

Computer Hardware and Software Tips

There is very big difference between a computer hardware and software tip. While software goes as the unseen and cannot-be-held physical component in the computing industry, the other is that which can be virtually hand held and determined in terms of specifics and standards that are set by their manufacturers. The use of software is an essential and integral part of a computer and therefore is always a must in order to run data or display one in the right platform.

Usually, software has tutorials and information like Linux Tutorials, MS DHCP servers, CSS, Microsoft, Windows and they mostly come with one as a guide for the users and they mostly coincide to be a requirement before you can use any hardware, otherwise, malfunction in the same hardware can take over anytime. Aside from this fact, hardware on the other hand is actually a helping aid for the computer so that things don’t get messed up forcing the virtual parts, especially the motherboard of the computer to function over an abused condition. In simple words, hardware helps the computer to lighten, ease out or even out the load and well distributes it into its own physical components like the mother board, video card, LAN card, sound card, memory and so on. When troubles occur by misuse of either component, the need for computer repair tips or the repair person gets in.

Web Development and Web Site Design

Web development is that part of the internet industry which is responsible for all the revolutionary changes that have happened in the past 10 years that contributed to the technology development at the same time. One aspect of the web development is the coming of the web design era which greatly helped a lot in improving the online business in a globally accepted standard that comply with the WWW or the world wide web standards or the W3C or the World Wide Web Consortium.

Web Site Designing and Development

Web design since then became a clear manifestation of the advancement and fast improvement of online business arising from the need to make quality businesses appear as professional as they can be with prospect clients as well as visitors who come using the internet. Today, there are so many standards that accompanied the improvement of web site design standards and I must admit that they aggressively helped a lot of webmasters develop their own set of visions by combining aesthetics with standards to form the best looking websites of today.

Tips for Choosing the Right Web Domain and Hosting Company

There are so many companies to choose from when it comes to acquiring web domain registrations and hosting.

However, there are certain key elements that should be considered before committing to a particular company.

The first tip is to think about your budget. What can you afford? Do not be carried away with sales pitches and slick marketing tactics. Do not over extend yourself.

If you are about to host a site for business purposes, the following elements are important:

a. SSL Certificates: People are getting smart about online security. More and more of them are looking for the padlock icon and "https" prefix in the address bar of their browser before submitting personal information online. If your Web site doesn't have an SSL Certificate, visitors may leave before making a purchase, creating an account or even signing up for a newsletter.

b. Customer/Tech Support: Does the company have 24/7 customer support? If they do not have this basic service do not use them!

c. Spam Free Email: Is the email service protected from fraud, spam, and viruses. Make sure it is compatible with Microsoft® Outlook®, Outlook Express, and Mozilla Thunderbird .

d. Quick Shopping Cart: Online Sales are expected to hit $144 billion in the U.S. and £78bn in the UK by 2010. Isn't it time you got your piece of the pie? With a quick Shopping Cart, you can create and publish a stand-alone Internet store or add one to your existing Web site in a matter of minutes. Make sure the company you choose provides this service if you are considering e-commerce with your site.

e. Hosting and Servers: From a basic Web site to a massive online superstore, look for full-service hosting solutions for every need and your budget. Make sure the company offers up to 99.9% guaranteed uptime, best-of-breed routers, servers and firewalls and 24/7 support and maintenance.

You can succeed with the right tools, so choose wisely.

Easy Slow Computer Solutions

Step 1: This is probably the easiest of them all; uninstall unnecessary programs. To do this you will want to head to the "Start" or Windows button on your bottom left, then click on "Control Panel" on the right hand side of the window that comes up, and finally click on "Add/Remove Programs" It is here that you will be able to uninstall any unwanted programs.

The programs that should be up for consideration for uninstalling would be programs that you either don't need or rarely use. This is the best place to start for Slow Computer Solutions, if you still seem to be having problems go on to Step 2.

Step 2: Finally, you can always hire a computer technician. I would only do this if Step 1 and 2 don't work. The only time I would recommend to hire one would be if you have computer errors or virus' that Registry Easy couldn't solve.

How To Avoid A Computer Slow Down

Avoiding these 'Slow Downs' can be actually very simple. Firstly always pay attention to what sites you visit, what you install, and what you accept! This alone will stop 50% of the slowdowns. The problem is, when you go to a site that contains malicious content it is certain that it will attempt to get your computer. This is then where accepting comes into play.
